Outdoor Ethics Awareness and Action Awards have been Retired
From Annaleis Smith - Revised - Outdoor Ethics Awareness and Action Awards for Cub Scouts and Leaders Have Been Retired
The June 2015 launch of the new Cub Scouting program fundamentally changed Cub Scout advancement requirements. The knowledge, skills, and attributes acquired through the Cub Scout Outdoor Ethics Awareness and Action Awards have been incorporated into, and made an integral part of, the new Cub Scout Adventures.
To avoid redundancy, the Cub Scout Outdoor Ethics Awareness and Action Awards have been retired and will no longer be available for Cub Scouts and Cub Scout leaders to earn. The adult content will be incorporated into the revisions being made to BALOO training and will be released soon.

May Roundtable
May Cub Scout Round Table : Thursday May 5th, at 7 pm sharp will be another Cub Scout Roundtable.
The topics that will be discussed will include Safety for your Outdoor Activities (Field Trips & Day Camps)
and Planning on getting the National Summertime Award. The RT Theme for May will be "It's a Hit" and the Scout Law is Obedient.
Games are part of the fun of Cub Scouting. Skills and interests that boys develop now can teach self-confidence, independence, and the ability to get along with others. Children learn through play. For these reasons, games are an important part of Cub Scouting. Games not only help to accomplish Cub Scouting’s overall objectives of citizenship training, physical fitness, and character development, but they also have educational benefits. Games teach a boy to follow rules, to take turns, to respect the rights of others, to give and take, and to play fair. Some games help boys to develop skills, body control,
and coordination. Some teach self-confidence and consideration for others. Games stimulate both mental and physical growth, as well as providing an outlet for excess “boy energy.”

April Roundtable
YES we are having Cub Scout Round Table April 7! The theme is "My Animal Friends" with the scout law being KIND. Round Table is a training meeting for all leaders of the BSA program. We encourage all to attend. We understand that our April meeting time is during Alpine District School Spring Break. We understand that attendance may be low. There is wisdom in having at least one person from each Unit to attend. They can collect any handouts, learn and understand any announcements and mingle with seasoned Scouters. We follow the BSA guidelines that can be found by going to www.scouting.org/roundtable planning guide 2015-16 go to page 105-111. You can also look up the "Pack Meeting Plan Resource sheet for May. Remember our RT meetings are always a month head for the theme and scout law. This allows each Den and Pack plenty of time to prepare for successful activities.
Alpine District Day Camp is now FULL. You can still register your Unit at Jeremiah Johnson or add on to a waiting list for the Iron Horse District Day Camp. To find that information go to Utahscouts.org For safety reasons we encourage all Cubs to attend a BSA sponsored Day Camp.

As I look out my window and see the wild weather w are having I think of the phrase "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb". Starting out as a new leader in the Scouting program and working with a bunch of energetic boys is often like March weather. They come in as Bears and go out as "loyal Scouts" (Webelos). the best way to teach sanity in an insane world is to rise above it. the positive character values that are being taught to the boys with each activity, teaches the that they are important and they can do hard things. Spring time is also the time when the boys will start sports & outside activities. Take a moment to review with the how to be safe and play fair. Talking about Honesty, Respect, Health and Fitness, and a Positive Attitude, helps each boy learn how to "BE" the best he can in all that he does. Playing is a time for learning, it is practicing what they know.
