50 Great States Neckerchief Slides - Core Value Citizenship - Theme 50 Great States

The Cub Scout Theme in November is 50 Great States and the Core Value is Citizenship.  I had fun making up these neckerchief slides.  I hope you enjoy them. To make them:
  • Print out the color PDF with the colored United States with the "50 Great States" logo.  It was prepared to be printed on business cards and cut in half, but you can also print it on cardstock.
  • Print the Instructions PDF on Cardstock, and cut out the state of Utah.  Turn it over and trace it backwards onto fun foam.  (If you turn it over before tracing, you won't see pen marks on the finished slide)
  • Cut out the foam pieces.
  • Turn the foam piece over and glue it to the colored "50 Great States" colored picture with a glue gun making sure the pen marks are on the back of the state of Utah
  • Attach a back to the neckerchief slide.  I like to use 1/2" PVC pipe cut into small strips.

Core Value: Citizenship ideas for the Wolf Den and Bear Den - Skits, Game, Song, Crafts and Activities

Core Value: Citizenship

 Skit, Joke or Run-on:
OUR 4 FATHERS
One Cub acts as teacher, others as students.

Teacher: Today class, we are going to learn about the American Revolution.  More than 200 years ago our forefathers defeated the British army in the revolutionary war.
Student 1: They defeated the whole army?
Teacher: Yes!
Student 2: Our four fathers?
Teacher: Yes! Isn’t that exciting?
Student 3: Yeah! They must have been really strong if it only took four of them to defeat a whole army!

Game: Flag Race
Items needed:
8 - 9”x 2” strips of red paper
6 - 9”x 2” strips of white paper
6 - 18”x 2” strips of red paper
6 - 18”x 2” strips of white paper
2 - 14”x 9” rectangles of blue paper
100 white stars (50 need to fit on blue paper) Variation 26 stars - the original flag had 13 stars in a circle.
Divide into two teams. On signal, each team tries to assemble their paper flag before the other team.  Variation: do individual time trials.  The boy with the fastest time overall wins.

Song: The Cub Scout Pack Song (Tune: You’re a Grand old Flag)

We’re a Cub Scout pack, we’re a high-flying pack;
Down the trail of Akela we go.
From Wolf to Bear to We-be-los,
As into good Scouters we grow.

Every Cub is true to the gold and the blue,
And he never forgets the fact
That all the fun a boy could want
He can find in the Cub Scout pack.

Cub Scout Blue & Gold Star Person neckerchief slide idea - Astronomy, Citizenship

We did this cute little guy in Roundtable last week.  To make him, print out the PDF of the picture below, and cut out each shape.  Trace onto the fun foam.  Cut out the foam pieces, turn them over, and glue them together with a glue gun so you don't see the pen marks.  Glue on 7mm size eyes, draw on the nose and mouth, add some glitter glue for a neckerchief slide, and add a flag if desired.  Attach a section of PVC pipe to the back.

To print out a PDF of the Instructions and Shapes, click here

Cut out each shape and trace onto fun foam

Use a glue gun to assemble the pieces together

If you want wiggle eyes, the size I used was 7mm
Thanks to Nancy Brimhall for the cute idea for this neckerchief slide below!
You can do it with or without a hat
And the flag is optional also
